starkravinghazelnuts:

My other harebrained theory is that Scott is actually addressing Tony in the security footage from the A:E trailer.

This is what he says in the trailer:

“Uh,  hi, is anyone home? This is Scott Lang. We met a few years ago at the airport in Germany. I got really big. Ant-Man? I know you know that. It’s me. Can you buzz me in?”

Reasons?

1) The last interaction Tony and Scott had was in the Raft, where Scott says, “Hank Pym always said you can’t trust a Stark,” and Tony claps back, “Who are you?” Scott would feel the need to over-explain who he is to Tony given they didn’t really formally meet, but Tony would at least remember the guy who got “really big.”

Whereas Scott wouldn’t probably feel the need to over-explain where he met Steve given Steve saved him from the Raft, and he at least felt familiar enough with him to call him “Cap.” He also introduced himself to Cap already as “Scott Lang,” but Tony never heard Scott’s real-name.

2) Scott seems unaware that much time has taken place (”a few years ago”) so he would probably assume Steve and co. are still on the run. He’d seek out a member of the Avengers who wasn’t arrested/who signed the Accords.

3) It’s possible he’s not even at the Avengers Compound. Scott was on the West Coast (near San Francisco). The nearest property to him where he’d seek help is probably Tony’s California home (if Tony rebuilt his mansion). Did he really drive all the way to New York? After all this mess and chaos? I think he’d seek out a source closer to home first.

4) The monitor screen is stylized in the way all of Stark’s monitors are. Whatever tech is watching Scott, it’s Stark tech.

I am still on the side of the fence that thinks Scott doesn’t emerge from the QR until a time-jump has already happened.

1) We know there’s a time-jump per wardrobe and hairstyle changes. (Also potential casting spoilers.)

2) The mention of “time vortexes” in the QR was for a reason; Scott is going to get displaced in time–either past or future.

3) Scott can’t be in the past because he has the X-CON van and the security footage is in high-quality (like a modern camera), which leaves a jump to the future.

But Scott doesn’t seem completely aware he’s in the future yet; or he’s in denial.
