Eddie Brock from Venom (2018) is autistic (Spoilers)

This is just based on what I could remember from the film

• He chew-stims (chews on his necklace in the beginning of the movie)
• Prefers analog/tactile methods of writing(uses a notebook rather than a PDA to take notes while researching/reporting)
• Anne was the first person he dated that understood and accepted him, proper-like, but he misunderstood/overestimated what her “trust” meant, which is why he seemed so genuinely confused by her reaction to him using her job for his research
• On that vein, Anne’s interactions with him are just further evidence for him being autistic (and she probably thought he was having a meltdown at first during that scene in the restaurant)
• He’s compatible with Venom because his brain is more suited for the symbiote’s thought processes
• Also, Venom is autistic as well, or whatever the symbiote equivalent is, hence the whole “You are a loser, Eddie” “On my home planet, I was kind of a loser too, but together we can be so much more”
• He definitely prefers tactile stims, and has a special textured laptop case (pure opinion, no evidence)
• I don’t know if tater-tots were a samefood for him before Venom, but they definitely are afterwards
• Venom finds that Eddie is not the person to ask about the weirdness of humans, because Eddie’s just as baffled as they are
• Just his general behaviour, body language, and speech patterns
• Lastly, Venom seems like, just, the Ultimate Stim (he looks… chewy, y'know?)

That’s everything I can think of right now, feel free to add more!

• Can’t stand loud guitar, even if it’s good guitar
• Really can’t stand high-pitched sound effects
• Rocks back and forth when he’s calm
• Has trouble finding full-time employment
  

I am SO. GLAD. y’all made this post because I have a LOT of emotions about autistic Eddie, just hadn’t taken the time to write them down yet.

I’d like to add:

• That hoodie 100% acted as a “safety” clothing item for him, I will NOT be argued with about this, I’ve already accepted it as fact.
• He dresses with comfort as a priority over style, overall.
• Those bracelets are stimmy heaven, also probably provide a sense of security and grounding due to their weight.
• Speaking of which- the symbiote is totally the world’s best weighted blanket.
• When he went to the neighbor’s door and said “because I am having a really hard time” that sounded SO scripted, not in a “this is a movie” way, but in a “this is an autistic guy who has a specific ‘script’ built for himself, full of phrases like this, for when he needs to express his feelings to other people” way.
• Another very self-scripted sounding line: “no such thing as can’t,” which he repeats twice: once casually yet so optimistically, the second time in a harder situation where he needs to keep himself determined.
• How he said “Oh, I have a parasite” at the end of the movie is the single most autistic thing I’ve ever seen, I don’t know how to explain that, but other autistic folks will know exactly what I mean- his body language, voice, etc.
• Every single one of his interactions with Dan.

i love this stupid movie but my tear ducts hurt so bad and this post is making it worse
